Banknotum is a mobile application that helps you identify banknotes using artificial intelligence. Simply take a photo (or upload an existing image) of a banknote, and the app will analyze it to provide the most likely match, an AI-generated description, and additional reference images of similar banknotes.
Our AI-powered algorithm analyzes visual features of your banknote photo—such as denomination, country, year of issue, printing style, signatures, color patterns, security thread, watermark, and overall design—to match it against a large banknote reference database. The app then suggests the most probable match and provides a detailed AI-generated description.
For the most accurate identification, use clear, well-lit photos where the banknote lies flat and fills most of the frame. Avoid blur, glare on foil or hologram elements, folds, and heavy shadows. If possible, capture both sides (front and back) and keep the camera parallel to the note.
Yes! You can either take a new photo directly in the app or upload an existing image of a banknote from your device's gallery for identification.
Banknotum uses advanced AI algorithms and a large banknote reference database to provide accurate results in most cases. However, identification is not always perfect—especially for damaged or heavily circulated notes, older or rare varieties, or banknotes photographed in poor lighting. Please use results as a helpful guide and consult a qualified currency specialist or dealer for critical decisions.
For each identified banknote, you may receive an AI-generated description, country, currency name, denomination, year of issue, notable security features, printing details, and additional reference images to help you compare and learn more. Value estimates (if shown) are informational only and can vary widely based on condition, series, demand, and authenticity.
Your privacy is important to us. When you use the app, your photo is securely sent to a third-party service for identification purposes. Additionally, we store the photos you provide so that you can conveniently view your identification history within the app. You can delete your history and associated photos at any time through the app's interface. We do not share your photos with any other parties beyond what is necessary for banknote identification. Please see our Privacy Policy for more details.
Banknotum requires an internet connection to process images and access the banknote reference database. Offline identification is not currently supported.
If the app cannot confidently identify your banknote, try taking clearer photos (ideally of both sides), improving lighting, and minimizing glare on foil or hologram areas. You can also use the app's suggestions to explore similar matches or consult a currency specialist for further assistance.
Banknote descriptions in the app are generated by artificial intelligence based on reference information and structured data sources.
