Rockium FAQ

1. What is the app?

This is a mobile application that helps you identify rocks, stones, minerals, crystals and gems using artificial intelligence. Simply take a photo or upload an existing image of a rock, and the app will analyze it to provide you with the most likely identification, a description, and additional images of rock and mineral types.

2. How does rock identification work?

Our AI-powered algorithm analyzes the features of your photo—such as color, texture, patterns, and structure—to match it with a large database of rocks, stones, minerals, crystals and gems. The app then suggests the most probable match and provides a detailed description generated by AI.

3. What kind of photos should I use for the best results?

For the most accurate identification, use clear and well-lit photos that focus on the main features of the rock, such as its texture, color, and patterns. Avoid blurry or distant images, and try to capture the rock from multiple angles.

4. Can I upload photos from my gallery?

Yes! You can either take a new photo directly in the app or upload an existing image from your device’s gallery for identification.

5. How accurate are the identification results?

Our app uses advanced AI algorithms and a large rock and mineral database to provide accurate results in most cases. However, identification is not always perfect—especially for rare or similar-looking specimens. We recommend using the provided information as a helpful guide and consulting experts for critical decisions.

6. What information will I get about the rock?

For each identified rock, you’ll receive an AI-generated description, scientific and common names, and additional images to help you compare and learn more about the specimen.

7. Is my photo or data stored or shared?

Your privacy is important to us. When you use the app, your photo is securely sent to a third-party service for identification purposes. Additionally, we store the photos you provide so that you can conveniently view your identification history within the app. You can delete your history and associated photos at any time through the app’s interface. We do not share your photos with any other parties beyond what is necessary for rock identification. Please see our Privacy Policy for more details.

8. Can I use the app offline?

Our app requires an internet connection to process images and access the rock and mineral database. Offline identification is not currently supported.

9. What should I do if the app cannot identify my rock?

If the app cannot confidently identify your rock, try uploading a clearer or different photo. You can also use the app’s suggestions to explore similar specimens or consult a local expert for further assistance.

10. Who creates the rock descriptions?

All rock descriptions in the app are generated by artificial intelligence based on trusted geology sources and databases.
