Seedum FAQ

1. What is the app?

Seedum is a mobile application that helps you identify seeds using artificial intelligence. Simply take a photo (or upload an existing image) of a seed, and the app will analyze it to provide the most likely match, an AI-generated description, and additional reference images of similar seeds.

2. How does seed identification work?

Our AI-powered algorithm analyzes visual features of your seed photo—such as shape, size, color, texture, surface patterns, and overall appearance—to match it against a large seed reference database. The app then suggests the most probable match and provides a detailed AI-generated description.

3. What kind of photos should I use for the best results?

For the most accurate identification, use clear, well-lit photos where the seed fills most of the frame. Make sure the surface texture, shape, and distinguishing features are fully visible and avoid blur, glare, and heavy shadows. If possible, place the seed on a plain, contrasting background and capture it from multiple angles for the sharpest and most accurate result.

4. Can I upload photos from my gallery?

Yes! You can either take a new photo directly in the app or upload an existing image of a seed from your device's gallery for identification.

5. How accurate are the identification results?

Seedum uses advanced AI algorithms and a large seed reference database to provide accurate results in most cases. However, identification is not always perfect—especially for damaged, immature, or processed seeds, rare or uncommon species, or seeds photographed in poor lighting. Please use results as a helpful guide and consult a qualified botanist or horticulturist for critical decisions.

6. What information will I get about the seed?

For each identified seed, you may receive an AI-generated description, common name, scientific name, plant family, native region, germination tips, and additional reference images to help you compare and learn more. Any growing or care information provided is for general guidance only and may vary depending on climate, soil conditions, and local environment.

7. Is my photo or data stored or shared?

Your privacy is important to us. When you use the app, your photo is securely sent to a third-party service for identification purposes. Additionally, we store the photos you provide so that you can conveniently view your identification history within the app. You can delete your history and associated photos at any time through the app's interface. We do not share your photos with any other parties beyond what is necessary for seed identification. Please see our Privacy Policy for more details.

8. Can I use the app offline?

Seedum requires an internet connection to process images and access the seed reference database. Offline identification is not currently supported.

9. What should I do if the app cannot identify my seed?

If the app cannot confidently identify your seed, try taking clearer photos from multiple angles, improving lighting, and placing the seed on a plain background so its shape, texture, and color are fully visible in the frame. You can also use the app's suggestions to explore similar matches or consult a botanist or seed catalog for further assistance.

10. Who creates the seed descriptions?

Seed descriptions in the app are generated by artificial intelligence based on reference information and structured botanical data sources.
