Toolium FAQ

1. What is the app?

Toolium is a mobile application that helps you identify tools using artificial intelligence. Simply take a photo (or upload an existing image) of a tool, and the app will analyze it to provide the most likely match, an AI-generated description, and additional reference images of similar tools.

2. How does tool identification work?

Our AI-powered algorithm analyzes visual features of your tool photo—such as type, brand, function, design features, material composition, era, condition, and overall appearance—to match it against a large tool reference database. The app then suggests the most probable match and provides a detailed AI-generated description.

3. What kind of photos should I use for the best results?

For the most accurate identification, use clear, well-lit photos where the tool is properly positioned and fills most of the frame. Make sure any markings, labels, and design features are fully visible and avoid blur, glare, and heavy shadows. If possible, capture multiple angles and keep the camera focused on the tool for the sharpest image.

4. Can I upload photos from my gallery?

Yes! You can either take a new photo directly in the app or upload an existing image of a tool from your device's gallery for identification.

5. How accurate are the identification results?

Toolium uses advanced AI algorithms and a large tool reference database to provide accurate results in most cases. However, identification is not always perfect—especially for damaged or heavily worn tools, very old or rare models, or tools photographed in poor lighting. Please use results as a helpful guide and consult a qualified tool specialist or appraiser for critical decisions.

6. What information will I get about the tool?

For each identified tool, you may receive an AI-generated description, brand, era, type, function, material composition, and additional reference images to help you compare and learn more. Value estimates (if shown) are informational only and can vary widely based on condition, rarity, historical significance, and demand.

7. Is my photo or data stored or shared?

Your privacy is important to us. When you use the app, your photo is securely sent to a third-party service for identification purposes. Additionally, we store the photos you provide so that you can conveniently view your identification history within the app. You can delete your history and associated photos at any time through the app's interface. We do not share your photos with any other parties beyond what is necessary for medal identification. Please see our Privacy Policy for more details.

8. Can I use the app offline?

Toolium requires an internet connection to process images and access the tool reference database. Offline identification is not currently supported.

9. What should I do if the app cannot identify my tool?

If the app cannot confidently identify your tool, try taking clearer photos (ideally from multiple angles), improving lighting, and ensuring all markings and design features are fully visible in the frame. You can also use the app's suggestions to explore similar matches or consult a tool specialist or reference guide for further assistance.

10. Who creates the tool descriptions?

Tool descriptions in the app are generated by artificial intelligence based on reference information and structured data sources.

11. Are there any usage limits with Premium?

Premium includes unlimited tool identifications for normal personal use—unlike the free version, there is no small daily quota. To keep the service reliable for everyone and to protect it from automated abuse, a fair-use safeguard of 100 identifications per 24-hour period applies, as described in our Terms of Use. This is far more than typical everyday use, so you are unlikely to ever notice it.
